Albuquerque has a lively music scene that spreads from downtown into the nearby suburbs. The city has concert stages and nightclubs featuring the best local and national performers. The local music scene is known for strong alternative rock and indie styles.  

However, this is Albuquerque, where deep Hispanic and Native American cultural roots have contributed to the music scene. You can find Latin rock music along with mariachi, salsa, and flamenco on any given evening. Some live music venues may require reservations and tickets, while others are within restaurants and pubs, offering patrons free entertainment with their meals. 

There are many exciting nightclubs and performance venues around Albuquerque, many of which are just a short drive from La Vida Buena Apartments. Below is a list of some of the can't-miss options nearby! 

Launchpad 

This is the leading venue for 21+ live concerts. Launchpad in the downtown area on Central has rock bands almost every night of the week, and they host the locally-loved Night of the Living Cover Bands in the fall. The nightclub is small with a friendly staff and good drinks with a dive bar vibe.  

Guests can get close to the stage, allowing for a very intimate and personal concert experience. Launchpad offers a fun atmosphere with pool tables and pinball machines. Check the website for band listings. Tickets may be required at the door for some performances since the club is not large. Come early to avoid long lines! 

Sister 

This downtown restaurant and nightclub, also on Central, books national touring acts. The performance area of Sister has a 360-person capacity. It's large enough to pull major artists but small enough to feel intimate. The restaurant serves tacos, burgers, burritos, and nachos, and they have an impressive assortment of bottled beer.  

Happy Hour runs every day from opening at 2:00 pm on weekends and 4:00 pm weekdays until 6:00 pm. The club is open until midnight. Depending on the performance and number of people present, there may be space to dance during some of their shows. The venue also has pinball machines and hosts a monthly tournament. The club is open to everyone over 21. Outdoor seating is offered for food and drink service. 

The Jam Spot 

Looking for an all-ages venue, rather than one that caters to those 21 and older? The Jam Spot might be the ideal location to enjoy a show! Located on Central, The Jam Spot features bands and artists of all musical styles. This venue has a reputation for being the spot to see underground and up-and-coming artists/bands. Attendees can often purchase tickets at the door, and the prices are very reasonable, especially when compared with the cost of shows at other nearby venues.  

It is worth noting that the Jam Spot is relatively small, which means it can get hot quickly when filled to capacity. However, the small space also means attendees have a good view from almost anywhere and can potentially get right up next to the stage! They do not serve alcohol, although there are other establishments within walking distance that do. There is a small snack bar that offers water and food for reasonable prices.  

Tractor Brewing Company 

Tractor Brewing Company has three locations, and guests are welcome without tickets or reservations. Each location offers its own unique performance options. Their Wells Park location has enough space to host performances with full bands, as well as smaller, more intimate shows where local singer-songwriters perform.  

The Nob Hill location often offers acoustic shows, as well as performances on their patio. They even bring in DJs. The Westside location occasionally offers live shows, often showcasing local talent. Food trucks provide meals and snacks, while the Tractor Brewing Company offers its special craft beers. The atmosphere is casual and lively at most shows. 

Canteen Brewhouse 

This is another microbrewery that offers live music every Thursday night and Sunday afternoon, along with its craft beers. They schedule band performances and bring in DJs for special events. Canteen Brewhouse also has a food menu that includes soups, salads, and sandwiches, along with starters. This microbrewery works to support and develop the local community. 

They host a book club and book swap, as well as a meetup for cancer caregivers. Tickets are necessary for some events at Canteen Brewhouse, but most of the time guests can simply show up when there is a band or DJ performing.   

Revel Entertainment Center 

Revel-The Coolest Hangout has two music venues, a food court, and a hangout spot. Their sports bar and outdoor areas are open to everyone. This is the place to meet friends and attend a rock or pop concert. Rock shows are lively celebrations of electric guitars and thundering drums. Pop shows feature choreography, lights, and dance beats. The eclectic lineup and great food ensure that there's something appealing for just about everyone at Revel!
